National Ability Center Hosting the 2015 No Barriers Summit
Event Showcases the Latest in Adaptive Technology and Innovation for 1,000+ Participants

PARK CITY, UT (July 9, 2015) – The National Ability Center is the local non-profit partner and host for the 2015 No Barriers Summit, July 9-12 at the Canyons Resort. The four-day, biennial event brings together scientists, inventors, academics, practitioners and end users to challenge the conception of what is possible. This family-friendly event is for people of all ages and abilities.
Amy Van Dyken Rouen, six-time Olympic Gold Medalist, will talk about taking her first steps in an exoskeleton after a paralyzing ATV accident. She is one of several prominent individuals who will share inspirational stories and innovative ideas about adaptive technologies with the more than 1,000 expected participants. Josh Blue, who has cerebral palsy and was a winner of NBC’s Last Comic Standing competition, also will speak.

Innovation will be at its best when Henry Evans, a quadriplegic who is also mute, presents his Tele-tourism “Beam” Robot. Evans is a pioneer in adaptive robotic technologies, and his creation will be one of many on display at the Summit’s Innovation Village. Blind artist John Bramblitt will do a live painting during the Opening Ceremony, joining world-renowned organizations such as KIVA, Charity Water, and MANA.

“The National Ability Center is honored and proud to be the local non-profit partner for the No Barriers Summit,” said Gail Loveland, National Ability Center executive director. “Our missions align so closely and we both focus on providing people of all abilities with access to activities and programs that focus on breaking down barriers and making our world a better place for everyone.”

About No Barriers
No Barriers USA was formed in 2005 by a group of friends with a passion for recreation in the natural world. They created a nonprofit organization based on the assumption that each person, regardless of age, state of mind or physical condition, has a thirst for adventure and a hope for the future that is worthy of igniting. Their inaugural program was a biennial summit featuring innovative technologies that enabled people with and without disabilities to envision a full and active life.  The No Barriers Mindset is the realization that individuals can build the vision, tools and support systems to attack challenges head on, break through them, and create a life rich in fulfillment, purpose and impact. Mindsets are difficult to teach and even harder to embrace, which is why No Barriers believes in authentic immersion experiences that push individuals outside of their comfort zones, challenging them intellectually, emotionally or physically.
