Cyclist Dies in March 2013 Trax Accident

March 2013 – A bicyclist was killed on March 14 by one of two passing TRAX trains after he rode onto the tracks – seemingly unaware that there were trains proceeding from both directions, police said.

Brandon G. Robinson, 27, was headed east across the train tracks at 4100 South and 200 West in Millcreek at about 4:57 p.m. when he was struck by a train traveling southbound.

Police said Robinson had apparently seen one train pass before venturing onto the tracks, but was clearly unaware of the second train approaching from the opposite direction.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal confirmed that the barricade arms and flashing lights had been initiated at the time Robinson was hit.

Robinson died at the scene.
