The mission of the Bicycle Collective is to promote cycling as an effective and sustainable form of
transportation and as a cornerstone of a cleaner, healthier, and safer society. The Collective provides refurbished bicycles and educational programs to the community, focusing on children and lower income households.
The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall flow and maintenance of the Bicycle Collective. This is a fun, sometimes fast-paced job which is best suited for an organized individual who takes initiative.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee shop operations including shop upkeep, technological systems, bike repair, sales, and safety
Work with Volunteer Coordinator to maintain a productive and smoothly running shop during all open hours
Maintain inventory of new/used equipment and manage restocking from appropriate sources
Maintain a clean, organized, and functional shop
Ensure quality and safety of all new and used products leaving the shop
Invoice staff and keylist for distributor orders
Meet shop sales goals each month
Maintain and improve Open Shop operations including flow, scheduling, and ensuring optimal service and
ease of shop use for patrons and clientele
Some evening and weekend shifts required
Responsible for being involved in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, orienting, and training new staff with SLC
Director and Head Mechanic
Report weekly, or as needed at staff meetings to discuss operations and changes.
Work with Volunteer Coordinator to evaluate shop needs and projects
Supervise Open Shop Managers, Head Mechanic and Mechanic Staff
Outreach and Reporting
Maintain databases that measure impact of shop operations
maintain positive connections, and collaborative relationships with suppliers, local bike shops and the
greater cycling community
Prepare and submit recommendations reports to the Salt Lake City Director
Ensure that all phone calls, requests, and questions are addressed properly and in a timely fashion
Complete quarterly goals and evaluations with Director
Conduct price research to maintain appropriate pricing inventory knowledge.
Seek out technologies/trends in the industry to maintain/enhance quality of work and products.
Excellent mechanical skills required (minimum three years handson, professional shop experience working
on a wide variety of bicycles)
Experience with managing and empowering a diverse staff and clientele
Strong educational and teaching skills
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google, and point of sale programs
Demonstrated ability to think dynamically in problem solving
Strong verbal and written communication skills
