Over the years the Frozen Hog has seen conditions ranging from epic mud to icy hard pack. At it’s worst the race can be a slushy contest of bike pushing. This year the Snow Gods favored racers with 18 inches of snow four days prior to the race.
We are in the midst of a real winter here in Utah, and as much as it hampers any efforts to ride bikes, I am enjoying it. I have always liked the stark contrast of four distinct seasons. Growing up in Vermont it sometimes seemed like we would skip spring, and here in Utah the past couple years it seems like we have skipped winter.

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) invites the bicycling community to celebrate the opening of the next portion of the Mountain View Corridor. The celebration includes a ribbon cutting, bikes rides from one to twenty miles in length, and a kid’s Costume Bike Parade.
The summer ended on a busy note with the Park City Point 2 Point, a friend’s wedding in Moab the next weekend, and Marathon Nationals in Bend the following. The Point 2 Point was yet again one of the best races I did all year; the course and organization are spot on. This year we had some weather to contend with as we woke up to pouring rain at 5 am on race day.
