October 17, 2014 – Salt Lake County is developing an East-West Recreational Trails Master Plan. The trail system will connect the west side of the Salt Lake Valley with the east through a system of paved pathways.

The PRATT Trail (Parley’s Trail) is an example trail in the system, but many more trails are planned. The focus is on off-road, paved pathways for riders of all ages and abilities.

Two public open houses will be held soon. Citizens can learn about the project, and provide input on the trails alignments, and priorities for construction.

The first will be on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Utah Olympic Oval in the World Record Lounge. The open house will start at 6:30 pm at the Oval, 5662 S. Cougar Lane (4800 W.), Kearns, UT 84119.

The second meeting will be on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the South Jordan City Community Center in the Lobby. This open house will start at 6:30 pm at 10778 S. Redwood Road, South Jordan, Utah 84095.

Comments will also be taken at http://www.slcoeastwesttrails.org/contact.html

There are five major corridors where trails will be constructed: City Creek in Salt Lake City, Decker – Mid Valley, Cottonwood to Magna, Sandy to Jordan to Copperton, and Draper – Herriman. Multiple trails are planned for each corridor.
